Shin Splints – how to prevent and treat shin splints

Years ago I began to experience pain in my lower leg, specifically my shin.  It began as a dull ache on the inside of my shin bone, but I pushed through, certain it would disappear as all the other pains had.  However, the pain intensified until each step became an excruciating ordeal.  I struggled to bury the idea that I had the dreaded shin splints.  I had run for years and had never experienced such pain and discomfort while running.  What did this mean?   Would I have to stop running?  (continue reading this article at “Shin Splints – how to prevent and treat shin splints” under Articles)

One Runner’s Story: When did I become a “runner”?

Sitting here and drifting back through the years, I am trying to determine when I first came to consider myself a runner. When did I first attach that identity to myself? When did I stand up and say “I am a runner?” I drift through the years past, carefully analyzing each period of my life.

I was a runner when I returned to college in 2008 to finish my degree. I had been out of school for 15 years. My hobby and my passion was running. I loved the challenge of running marathons even though my relative time for the half-marathon was more impressive, at least that is what I thought. But the marathon gave me a goal. I began racing marathons in 2002, or running them really, as I only raced against myself. At least that is what I told myself (Continue reading this article at: “One Runner’s Story” under Articles)

Trail Running: What you should know before you venture down the trail

Trail running is a sport which allows you to enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of nature while you exercise and spend time either alone or with close friends. Welcome to the soulrunner store!

thesoulrunner

Where you can recharge from the daily grind!

Thank you for taking the time to drop in on us here at thesoulrunnerstore.com where you can find other individuals who run for the sake of running. We run to find ourselves, to get away from the daily grind, to work through problems in our mind (sometimes subconsciously), or just to soothe our soul.

We can be found on mountain trails, dodging driftwood on a beach, or even pounding the pavement – searching, always, exploring the depths of our souls.

There are times on my long runs when I enter an almost trance-like state. When I emerge on the other side, my soul is refreshed, my mind can think clearly, and I am ready to face whatever may come my way.

Hopefully, here at thesoulrunnerstore you can find what you are looking for, whether it is friendship, advice, humor, or a product in our store.
I hope you all have a good day…may the wind always be at your back!
